Limpopo is seeking a contractor for a 5.5-hectare structure, but the bid document makes the already-passed site briefing an important eligibility condition.
The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is seeking a service provider to construct a 5.5-hectare shade-net structure at Ground Stone Farm in Capricorn South, with bids due by 11:00 on 20 October 2026.
The project is listed under tender ACDP 26/08 and targets contractors with a CIDB grading of 4CE or higher. It is a procurement invitation, not an announcement that the contract has been awarded or construction completed.
The department places the site in the Capricorn district, approximately 7 km from Lebowakgomo Zone F along the R518.
Briefing condition matters
The tender document specifies a compulsory site briefing for 10:00 on 1 October. That date had already passed when this report was prepared on 2 October.
It also requires tenderers to sign the attendance register in the name of the bidding entity and says addenda will be issued to entities on that register. A closing date later in the month should therefore not be read as permission to bypass the briefing condition.
The published submission address is the department's ground-floor premises at Temo Towers, 67 Biccard Street, Polokwane. Prospective bidders should use the full document and any official amendments for submission requirements.
A construction procurement process
The bid pack describes supply, delivery and construction of the structure and includes pricing, contract and technical sections. The department's tender page provides links to the bid document and bill of quantities.
For the agricultural sector, the concrete development is the procurement step for a defined area of shade-net infrastructure. The invitation does not itself establish a completed production expansion, additional harvest volumes or a realised employment benefit.
It would also be premature to infer a final project price from the contractor grading alone. The reporting milestones still to follow are the procurement outcome and, if a contract proceeds, evidence of delivery.
Contractors considering the opportunity need to read the mandatory conditions together, rather than rely on a short notice. The department's administrative and technical enquiry channels are provided in the official bid pack for questions about the tender.
