Dwarsvlei Farm, in the shadow of the Renosterberg just south of Middelburg in the Eastern Cape, has played an unusual role in South Africa’s history. A century ago, it was part of the largest Thoroughbred stud farm in the Southern Hemisphere, owned by Randlord Henry Nourse.
